PE Days

Outdoor PE Monday (Scott and Raleigh)

Outdoor PE Tuesday (Cook)

Indoor PE Wednesday (all Year 2)

  • PE Kit: a bag containing PE shorts, PE T-shirt, plimsolls or trainers, tracksuit bottoms/joggers for cold weather
  • Clearly marked with your child's name
  • PE Kits to be in school every day during term time
  • No jewellery to be worn
  • Children to remove any stud earrings before coming to school on a PE day or be able to remove the earrings themselves before their PE lesson (staff are not allowed to remove earrings).  If earrings cannot be remove (e.g. they have only recently been pierced) then tape can be used.

Homework:

A reminder that homework is set on a Friday.  Your child will bring home weekly spellings, and either literacy/maths or topic homework. Homework books should be handed in on the following Wednesday so it can be marked. If homework has been completed before Wednesday, you are welcome to send it into school earlier but it is advisable to make a note of the spelling so your child can continue to practise at home.  The children also complete weekly maths challenges of key number facts and these are tested on a Friday.  Copies of the challenges can be found in their homework books to practise at home.  Please see your child's class teacher if there is a problem with any homework tasks.  Also, the school runs a homework club after school in the school library.  It is really important that your child has their homework book in school on a Friday so tests can be recorded and new homework can be sent home - thank you.

Reading:

Reading and enjoying books is hugely important and enjoyable and we encourage you to read/share a book with your child every day for 10-15 minutes.  Reading records must be handed in daily recording what you have read and ideally be signed by an adult who has heard you read.   Children are responsible for changing their reading books when they arrive in class.

Those children who are on Accelerated Reader, have a chance to complete a quiz every day in class, when the book has been finished in order to gain points towards prizes which are celebrated in Reading Assemblies.  Although we give regular reminders, we expect the Year 2 children to be responsible for changing their reading books daily (or when they have completed their book).  It would be helpful if you could also remind them in the morning before dropping them at school.
