Goodbye from year 6

Goodbye year 6

Welcome to Pankhurst Class!

We aim to learn and channel characteristics like our namesake, Emmeline Pankhurst!  We aim to be brave, smart and determined learners, so watch this space!!!

It's back for 2017 with a fresh new look!
All 48 booster packs (over 190 pages of content!) have been updated with the Sample paper and 2016 Reasoning and Arithmetic questions. The new video tutorials on YouTube for these questions are only accessible via this resource: a MUST for all KS2 primary schools, children and parents preparing for SATs!

This resource allows a student to choose a weak topic area of theirs (personalised learning) from a menu of 48 topics and instantly opens a printable PDF of past SATs questions specific to that topic. All 48 topic PDFs are housed on Genius Maths' Google drive account which can only be accessed via this single file. All questions contain a Youtube Button next to them, so if a student needs help, they simply HIT THE YOUTUBE button to zoom off to a mini Youtube tutorial specific to that question on our Youtube channel. The Youtube channel has over 180,000 hits and rising from those who used it during the last two year's SATs

Ready to Learn…..Let’s Go!

With summer behind us, I hope our students are ready to learn this year.  Our topic for this half term is ‘Out of this World’.  In science we’ll be learning about our place in the solar system.  We’ll also be researching all the planets.  Please be prepared for some definite fun and possibly edible projects.  In addition, in literacy we’ll be reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

Just a few reminders:

Homework is set by the subject teacher.  Students are grouped according to their learning needs.  Please ask your child for their literacy and maths teacher so you know who to communicate with should your student need any support or you have a question.  Students are expected to complete homework and turn in on time.

Reading homework will be given daily. Students are expected to write their own comments. In addition, they are expected to write the date and the pages they read.  The expectation is for students to read a minimum of 20-30 minutes daily, dependant on other homework.  If students have clubs / other activities, please ask them to communicate with the teacher BEFOREHAND if they know completing homework will be an issue.

Our PE days are Wednesday (outside) and Friday (inside).  Please ensure your students bring in the correct equipment so they can participate.  It is an important part of our curriculum.
