School Residential Trips

Isle of Wight 2019

Day 4

We've had another busy day today on our last full day on the island. We left the hotel early to travel the length of the island to The Needles where we saw glass blowing and sweet making demonstrations. We also went to the famous sand shop where we created some artistic masterpieces. After lunch, we moved on to Island Fossils to learn about paleontology and search for fossils on the beach. We returned to the hotel with three pieces of dinosaur bone! We partied our last night away with a disco and karaoke and went to bed looking forward to seeing everyone at home.

Day 3

We were up bright and early (with a little help from our teachers!) and, after a hearty breakfast, we set off for Robin Hill. As you can see we had a fantastic day taking in all the park had to experience. We set sail on a pirate ship, bounced along a treetop walk, enjoyed a 4d cinema experience, raced down the toboggan run and were amazed by a falconry display. After dinner, we took another trip to the beach before heading home to shower before bed.

Day 2

We've had another great day on the island today. We were up early at 7 to get ready for breakfast and a busy day out. We started our day touring Osborne House and the beautiful surrounding grounds. The Durbar Room seemed to be the highlight of the tour for most of us with its spectacular decor and banquet table. We then had lunch before moving on to have a guided tour of The Isle Of Wight Zoo. We saw lots of different animals including tigers, lions, meerkats and lemurs and learnt all about the conservation and rescue efforts that the zoo has been involved in. After another fantastic 3 course meal, we walked down for an evening on the beach before bedtime.

Day 1

We've had a fantastic first day of the trip today. We enjoyed an alfresco lunch on the ferry before making our way to the Palm Court Hotel. After settling in to our rooms, we walked down to the beach to enjoy an afternoon of sun sea and sand. We returned to the hotel to shower before enjoying our first 3 course meal of the week and ended the day with an evening walk to Sandown Pier.

Yr 3&4 PGL 2019

The Yr 3/4 PGL trip has arrived safely at Bawdsey Manor. The children are settling in nicely after their first evening meal.

Day 2 PGL fun!

Isle of Wight 2018

Day 1

After a slightly delayed start we made it to Portsmouth and crossed the Solent in glorious sunshine before continuing on to the Palm Court Hotel where we found Mr Spence waiting for us. We spent a great afternoon at Shanklin Beach where some of us cooled off in the sea, played cricket or just took the opportunity to chill out with a book. We then went back to the hotel to shower before dinner and finished our day with a walk to the beautiful Shanklin Chine. Look out for photos to follow tomorrow.

Day 2

We woke up early (some of us very early!) and ate a hearty breakfast before heading out to Amazon World this morning. We loved seeing the animals up close and enjoyed some time in the adventure playground before moving on to Carisbrooke Castle for the afternoon. After dinner back at the hotel we enjoyed an evening on the beach before heading home to shower and get some well deserved rest. Look out for photos to follow.

Day 3

We were slightly slower getting up this morning but made it down on time for breakfast before setting off for Robin Hill. We had a great day exploring the park, riding on the pirate ship, watching the falconry display, navigating the maze, experiencing a 4d movie and enjoying all the other activities available. After Robin Hill, we went back to the hotel for a swim in the pool before dinner and finished the day with an evening on the beach. I think we'll sleep well tonight!

Day 4

We were up and out early this morning to travel across the island to The Needles where we watched glass and sweet making demonstrations, took in the fantastic views and created works of art using the famous Alum Bay sand. After lunch (and a few sweets!) we took a short hop over to Freshwater Bay to find out all about fossils and the dinosaurs of the Isle of Wight. We were then taken by our expert guide to find fossils, crystals and even dinosaur footprints on the beach. We made it back to Shanklin in time for dinner and the football then danced away our disappointment at the disco. We've had a great week but we're still looking forward to seeing you all soon smiley

PGL Trip 2018

We arrived safely at around 3.30pm on Friday. The children have settled well into their rooms and have enjoyed singing songs round the campfire this evening. Now to try and get everyone to sleep:)

The weather is looking great for the weekend ahead!

Campfire fun!

Day 2: A wonderfully sunny day here at Windmill Hill...more akin to the Caribbean:). The children have enjoyed canoeing, abseiling, sensory trails and flying through the air on the trapeze! More sun and fun tomorrow!

PGL Day 2: Fun in the sun!!
