Cook Class

smileyWelcome to Cook Classsmiley

This year you will be taught by Mrs Sabic and Mrs Gabriel.

We have had a fantastic summer term. I hope that together we can make the spring term an even better one.

Our class assembly

This term we presented our class assembly to the parents and some of the other children. Our assembly included many facts about the world, we talked about famous  inventors and sung a few songs.

When the children were asked what the highlights of the assembly were they said:

Shenay was stupendous when she sung the lead on the song  "How far i'll go" from "Moana."

Clement confounded us with his skills on the recorder, playing the song "London's burning."

And Alyssia astounded us when she spoke about John McAdam and his special method of making roads called  mcadamisation.

Alyssia explains that"Mcadamisation is a method of building roads. You basically put big stones on the bottom and little stones and gravel crushed up on the top to create a smooth hard road."

All of the parents and the children enjoyed the assembly  and he children would like to thank Mrs Sabic and Mrs Gabriel for  their patience and help  in making it happen :)

Cook class Assembly intro

The introduction to our recent class assembly where some of the children brainstormed their ideas for what it could be about.

The White Room (Great fire of London)

A hard hitting report, that tries to get to the truth about what happened during the Great Fire of London by interviewing some key witnesses.

I am utterly amazed and proud of all the projects the children have completed as part of their STEAM homework this half term.

We have our own version of "The Tin Forest" in our classroom full of amazing creatures.

Please take a minute to take a look at them. I would once again like to thank all  of the Grown ups for their help with this project.

I hope you had as much fun making these as the children did.smiley

Parent Information

Homework Homework will be given out on Friday.  There will be spellings for your child to practise and they will have the opportunity to assess their learning on the following Friday.

Reading – Children are responsible for changing their reading book in the morning. Children should be reading for at least 15 minutes at home every day. Please write in your child’s reading record if you read with them.

Maths – The expectation in Year 2 is that your child can count in 2s, 5s and 10s in and out of order.  They should also know their number bonds to 20.

PE - We have PE on Mondays and Tuesday.  Please make sure your child has a PE kit in school which includes trainers/plimsolls, jogging bottoms, shorts and a t-shirt.  If your child has long hair, please tie it back on these days.  If your child wears earrings, we would be grateful if these could be removed at home on PE days.

Water Bottles - To help make sure your child is drinking enough each day they could bring in a water bottle to keep on our lunch time trolley. They can access this between breaks and at lunch.
